Checking in

So, if nothing changes, nothing changes.

Seems that if nothing is going on in life, I want something to happen. Once something happens, I get so busy. I’ve got three or four things ongoing now, and I’m actually grateful for that. I think I may be smiling a bit more than usual lately…which is a good thing.

One thing that has fallen off, though, is my running. I’m not too happy about that, but maybe the Honolulu Marathon just isn’t in the cards this year. I’ve only run a few times in the past couple months, and that kind (or lack) of training is not going to support running and finishing the marathon. I try to fit some running in, but other things tend to get in the way. I think I need to listen to what life’s trying to tell me right now.

I was busy all through leave time back in Cincinnati looking for an investment property, then doing long distance work with our realtor back there. Meantime, I was learning about real estate investment and student rentals, as well as gaining insight on starting up an LLC. In addition, I was (still am) working on gathering information to help further develop a friend’s business. And now I’m working on this IDLife kick-off and hoping to help bring it to Hawaii in a big way. Lots of things to keep me busy and engaged.

Got some ongoing one-on-one mentoring with a Sailor at work. That is going well, and it seems I’m imparting the necessary knowledge and experience. She’s got some challenges over the next few months; however, I hope I am helping prepare her for the professional aspects of that. Growing and developing Sailors is definitely one of the high points and lasting impacts of being in the Navy. It’s always great to see someone learn and succeed!
